Advocacy Update – February 18, 2025

Volume 2

We’ve been collaborating with our sister chambers—the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce and the Moncton Chamber of Commerce—to address the issue of tariffs. Together, the chambers have connected with the Bangor Chamber of Commerce, and a meeting is planned between all four chambers to explore joint strategies for mitigating tariffs and reducing their harmful impact on both Maine and New Brunswick.

Meanwhile, our Government Relations Committee has met multiple times to assess the possible effects of the tariffs and discuss next steps to support businesses through these uncertain times. A survey is being developed that will be sent to our membership shortly to gather feedback and better understand members’ concerns and needs.

Premier Susan Holt, along with representatives from some of New Brunswick’s largest exporters, visited Washington last week to engage with Trump Administration officials and other government representatives.
