Dear Minister Rodriguez,

Re: MV Fundy Rose – Digby, NS to Saint John, NB Ferry Service

The Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce is concerned after hearing about the possible deployment of the MV Fundy Rose. As you are aware the service links Digby, NS to Saint John NB, which is a vital service to residents as well as businesses for both regions.
The ferry is a critical highway infrastructure to support tourism, seafood, and other sectors that ship their products via trucks using the ferry. This could have a major economic impact that could potentially push up costs and impact delivery times. It also plays a key role in promoting tourism.

The MV Fundy Rose service plays an integral part in our region. It has connected Digby with Saint John since 1784. The removal, even temporarily, will have a wide-ranging impact on transportation, the economy, the environment, social connectivity, and tourism. It is essential to consider these implications when evaluating the potential disruption of the ferry service.

The Chamber, on behalf of its members, requests that you reconsider the deployment of the MV Fundy Rose.

Sincerely,

Mohamed Bagha,
Chair, Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce

CC Wayne Long, Member of Parliament
