MAINTAIN THE CHAMBER’S FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH BALANCE OF MEMBERSHIP, EVENTS AND OTHER REVENUE

 

EDUCATION/SPEAKERS

·         Survey Membership to identify topics of interest

·         Develop specific topic areas for a target audience i.e. immigration; governance

·         Consider opportunities for training programs to support individuals in specific industries

·         Harness technology to expand to a global source of speakers

·         Explore partnership opportunities for speakers/education

·         Revitalize Speaker Sponsorship and Distinguished Speaker events

·         Determine an appropriate cost structure for attendance to the education program

·         Open speaker events to members and non-members allowing for a member discount

·         Prebook speaker program a year in advance plus allow for some timely topics as needed

·         Partner with food delivery for Lunch & Learn program

 

REVIEW ANNUAL DUES STRUCTURE WITH CONSIDERATION OF AN INCREASE

 

OTHER FUNDING SOURCES

·         Identify other funding sources, provincial and federal grant opportunities

·         Explore membership interest in re-establishing trade shows

ENHANCE COMMUNICATION RELATED TO OUR VALUE PROPOSITION BOTH INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY

·         Establish a Committee/Task Force with clear terms of reference. The purpose is to develop a strategic view to fine tune digital communication and social platforms and to develop a plan on what to change, what to develop, how to go about it

·         Invite member input to identify what communication is wanted using what platform

·         Clarify the desired strategic direction, then develop a work plan including identification of expertise required to achieve the plan

·         Board role is to identify goals and objectives, and monitor outcomes

ONGOING DEFELOPMENT OF EXCELLENCE IN GOVERNANCE

·         Review existing Committee structure for effectiveness

·         Align Board and Committee agendas with Strategic Priorities

·         Identify topics and deliver governance education for Board members;   Consider offering a program on governance education for membership

·         Conduct an annual Board performance review

·         Establish a desired skill matrix required on the Board and ensure that Board membership matrix reflects the diversity of the membership community

·         Have a succession plan for the organization leadership team

·         Develop annual goals for the CEO on which to base annual performance reviews

ADVOCACY

·         Identify opportunities for proactive advocacy through membership survey

·         Be clear on how membership concerns/issues are brought to the organization and what advocacy work is being done on the membership’s behalf

·         Advocate for our business community to our business community

PARTNERSHIPS

·         Develop guiding principles for partnerships

·         Match membership skills and knowledge with membership needs

·         Identify potential new partners for program development, revenue generation, increased visibility

·         Continue to evolve workation partnerships
